Twenty Four is the turtle with a number for a name. As a medium-sized juvenile, we do not know whether it will turn out to be a male or female, but since it has been photographed and weighed since 2013, this turtle will be a huge help in determining how fast our juveniles are growing and maturing! Twenty Four also appears to be around the same size as Emory, Golden Sparkles, Lovisimo, Onezie, Shelly Storm, and Tortuga, so it would be very interesting to know if they all have the same parents.
Please try the game below, selecting Twenty Four on the first screen, along with several different different “moms” and “dads.” Those adult turtles with the greatest number of microsatellite matches are the most probable parents, and if you aren’t sure what microsatellites are, please click here.
Remember: not getting a match is just as helpful as matching, because we only want to find one mother and one father… otherwise we’ll never tell who the parents actually are! Please pay careful attention to the numbers and letters, try several different parents, and when you’re done, please answer the questions below.
