Dr. Robert A. Ginsberg, principal of Johnson Park School, waters the very beginnings of a native plant/ box turtle garden that was installed in the summer of 2016.

Johnson Park School is the first school to provide shelter and habitat to several members of Riverside School‘s growing turtle population. Supported by a BLOOME grant by the American Society of Plant Biologists, as well as a grant from the Captain Planet Foundation, the Johnson Park School native plant garden will shelter a population of approximately fourteen box turtles, plus any babies that they might have in coming years. We hope to post images and videos of a “Turtle Day” celebration as soon as school starts this fall!
